Hey, ho, let’s go: Welcome to Punk Productivity!

Writing a newsletter for you about personal productivity solutions is surprisingly stressful. I want you to find each post useful and actionable - but I don't want to waste your time! I will try to keep this introductory post short and to the point.

Why does Punk Productivity exist?

This publication, like many good punk projects, is a result of anger, frustration, and hope.

The anger is a response to seeing people's productive energy wasted and their morale dampened, day by day - a response to knowing that there's lots of personal potential out there which many of us are not yet able to put to use. We are tired, confused, and overwhelmed by our work or study.

The frustration is a result of seeing how "the new normal" and "new ways of working / learning" quickly become just another excuse to sell us another gadget, or to invite us to another badly-planned series of meetings, or to sign us up for another shady, clunky app which adds to our confusion. The brave new world of technology did not, so far, come to save us.

Finally, the hope. I know that we can build our own productive moments, hours, and days. I know there are people out there whose solutions, hacks, stubbornness or ingenuity result in brilliant ideas, useful apps, and more productivity. I hope I can move this conversation towards them - and sometimes, become one of these people by giving you the tools you need.

That is why I started Punk Productivity - to build a place for personal productive voices and messages of hope.

How does Punk Productivity work?

There will be two posts per week, every week: let's call them "the free post" and "the premium post".

The free post will usually consist of a series of quick takes on the topics connected with personal productivity, psychology, learning, creativity and other related themes. It can be a reflection of what I've worked on, or the books / articles I've been reading, or a selection of links to resources I've found useful. If you're always looking for inspiration to make your day a little bit better, then you're bound to find something good in this weekly post - and it's free!

The premium post will be a longer, more hands-on and practical exploration. It will focus on a problem or question which can help anyone build a more productive life. It will contain proven solutions, links to useful resources, and will generally be a longer read - aimed at helping you develop your own answers, habits, plans and actions. Each premium post will contain a free PDF worksheet or checklist. This way, you will be able to apply the work from the post to your own contexts.

What do I get when I subscribe?

If you subscribe to the free posts, here's what you get:

  • A weekly free post, as described above.

  • A sneak peek at the weekly premium post.

If you subscribe to the premium posts, here's what you get on top of that:

  • A weekly free post, as described above.

  • A weekly premium post, as described above.

  • Full access to the archive of all published posts.

  • Instant access to my bonus resources - e-books and workbooks on productivity and learning.

Who are you anyway?

Photo: Vic's face, showing signs of 11 months of lockdown!
2020 had me wear a suit thrice. This is one of these times.

I'm Vic. Nice to meet you!

I live and work in London, UK.

My other jobs involve project management, education publishing, coaching, editing and translation. I don't believe in having one job for life, as you can see. :)

When I don't work, I spend most of my time doing triathlons, playing MTG, and listening to punk and jazz music.

So what's next?

I'm off to write some more posts for Punk Productivity.

I hope you're off to subscribe to them. :)

I can't wait to share these stories with you.
